    The Itinerary

5 Days/4 Nights Nile Cruise between Luxor and Aswan

  • 2

    Day One

Arriving in Luxor, you will be checked into your 5* Nile cruise ship in the morning. Our competent, German-speaking Egyptologist welcomes you and accompanies you throughout the tour and during the sightseeing. In the afternoon we drive to the first two temples of this 5-day Nile cruise. The Karnak Temple is by far the largest temple complex in Egypt and the most important place of worship from the time of the pharaohs. It was built over a period of more than 2,000 years. The ram figures, also called the avenue of sphinxes, are waiting for you in line. After the first pylon, in the vestibule, you will find the portico with its 134 columns with relief fittings. Passing standing obelisks you reach the sanctuary. Next to it is the Sacred Lake, which was used for the ritual ablutions of the priests and temple utensils. The Luxor Temple is also a notable structure. The Luxor Temple is the feast house of the god Amun-Re, which depicts many vivid scenes from the religious celebrations of the Pharaonic period. After the sightseeing, climb back on board the Nile cruise ship. The second day

    Day Three

On the third day of your 5-day Nile cruise, visit Edfu Temple, drive to Kom Ombo and visit the temple there. Located on the outskirts of the city of Edfu, Edfu Temple is dedicated to the god Horus. It is also called the Temple of Horus. Under Pharaoh Ptolemy III. 237 BC the construction of the temple began. After sightseeing, continue by boat to Kom Ombo. Located on the east bank of the Nile, the Temple of Kom Ombo is a unique twin temple complex here in Egypt. It was dedicated to the deities Horus the Elder and Sobek. In the afternoon drive to Aswan where you will stay overnight.

    Fourth Day

Today, the fourth day of your 5-day Nile cruise, you will visit Aswan, the Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the High Dam. A city tour of Aswan will show you a city full of charm and beauty. Then we go to Philae Temple. The Philae Temple was originally built on Philae Island but had to be relocated after the island was flooded by the construction of a high dam. Today it stands on the island of Angelika. The main part is dedicated to the goddess Isis and the child Horus. The unfinished obelisk lies in a quarry near Aswan. Had it been completed, it would have been 41.75 meters tall. To this day it is not clear for what period it was intended. Then admire the high dam behind which lies Lake Nasser. Overnight in Aswan.

    Day Five

After breakfast, we drive to Abu Simbel with the two rock temples, that of Ramses II and the Temple of Nefertari. They are both on Lake Nasser and had to be raised by around 62 meters between 1964 and 1968 because of the dam. After visiting the temples of Abu Simbel, you will go back to the Nile cruise ship and your 5-day Nile cruise comes to an end.
